Days have shifted
into the dark.
Leaves are falling
and crunching
as I walk
over the
leave ladened paths.
******
The wind whispers
to my soul
a song
that lulls me
to become
at peace with
nature's change.
******
Warmth is gone
gloves
mittens
head scarfs
and hats resurrected
and stacked
near the door.
******
Jackets are hung
in the closet
just waiting
for their turn
to show
the world
how winter
is done
in Michigan.
******
Pool toys
replaced with
shovels
sleds
and sidewalk salt.
It is done,
summer that is.
