It Comes Once

Hold the moment. It won’t come again.

“Don’t let the pain of the past

the worries of tomorrow

take away the joy you have today.”

It comes once.
Not twice.
Not again.

The moment you're living in right now
this breath,
this sky,
this little piece of time
it won't return.

But we waste it, don’t we?

We look back.
At the people who hurt us.
The words that shattered us.
The chapters we wish we could rewrite.

We look ahead.
Worried if we’ll make it.
If we’ll be loved,
if we’ll succeed,
if life will finally feel kind.

And in between all that looking
we forget to live.

I was guilty of that.
Every smile I had came with a shadow.
Every peaceful hour ruined by a loud memory,
or a loud fear of what might come next.

But one day,
I sat in silence.
No phone.
No people.
Just me and time.

And I realized something:

This moment?
It’s mine.
Raw. Real.
Unrepeated.

So I held it.

I closed my eyes,
took a deep breath,
and let myself feel now
not what was,
not what could be.

Just now.

Because it comes once.
And when it goes,
it never knocks twice.

So I choose to be here,
where joy lives,
where life is.

Right here.
Right now.
