Is There Any Human In Our Humanity?

Where Do We Get Off

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 10 months ago 1 min read
noir art

We preach about equality

and teach our children how to share

We encourage curiosity

teaching what dangers to beware

*

We use words like please and thank you

to show what's etiquettely polite

But what we'll put another through

goes against what's wrong and right

*

Being born in female bodies

we've learned to bargain for our lives

On our own, or groups at parties

we have to fain at being nice

*

To protect a weaker ego

so as not to provoke a fight

Because these days you never know

what makes another soul uptight

*

Road rage, estranged emotions

should we engage or disengage

Reactions at things unspoken

seems everybody's in a rage

*

Any excuse to point a finger

to put our anger on display

Hate and aggression always linger

because somebody has to pay

*

For whatever switch was flipped

that pissed you off, leading you to believe

That you control the script

and can wear your heart out on your sleeve

*

Who gave you the right to judge

what clothes that I should wear

Tell me, who are you to besmudge

how I show my love I care

*

Why don't you live your life the way you choose

and let me enjoy mine without compare

Your behavior does nothing but prove

why most women choose the bear

Go girl and set things right. We all need to feel the love or the like for each other.
