Is Life a Countdown?
Embracing Subtraction and Finding Peace
Life is a process of subtraction.
You never know which will come first: tomorrow, or an accident? We often think we have a long time ahead, but we forget that the world is unpredictable. Therefore, cherishing the present and prioritizing your health and safety are more important than anything else.
When I was young, I thought life and death were far removed from us. When I grew up, I realized that accidents can happen at any time, and life can end at any moment. Compared with life and death, are those gains and losses, those loves and hates, still important?
Life is a journey, a journey with all kinds of ups and downs, but the final outcome is simply departure. So, for the rest of your life, be more open-minded, more generous, and even a little selfish. If a relationship makes you uncomfortable, leave when you should, and reject when you must.
Life is full of variables. Sincerity can also be betrayed. The more you love someone, the more heartbroken you may be. The longer you live, the more you understand that no one in this world is more important than you. Even your parents, your children, and your lover, are just passers-by in your life. A person can never give their all to anyone. Bonds are often shallow, but love can be deep. Always remember to love yourself wholeheartedly and love others moderately.
At the end of life, you will find that love is not the only important thing. What matters is getting along well and enjoying the time together.
In life, you can pursue moments of excitement, but your destination must be eternal peace of mind. For the rest of your life, surround yourself with comfortable people, because it is good for your health. Be with warm people, because it is good for your heart. Be with smart people, because it is good for your brain. If not, then simply be alone.
As the saying goes, if you let go of one thought, you will be free from all worries. The true maturity of a person is not that we can control more and more things, but that fewer and fewer things can influence us. Most of life's troubles do not come from others but from our own entanglements and internal conflicts.
I hope that for the rest of my life, I will cherish all unexpected encounters and take lightly all departures without farewells. Do your best and leave the rest to fate. Own what you love and let go of what you lose.
