Invisible Chains: A Poem About Inequality
Breaking Free: A Poetic Reflection on Inequality’s End

Beneath the surface, hidden but near,
Are chains you can’t see, forged by fear.
They wrap around both young and old,
Keeping dreams small, futures on hold.
A child sits under a broken sky,
Dreams too heavy, her wings won’t fly.
She clutches books she cannot read,
A silent plea, a desperate need.
In busy streets where towers rise,
Shadows fall on hopeful eyes.
Faces unseen, voices unheard,
A world divided, line by word.
The chains are quiet, yet they bind,
Not of steel, but of the mind.
Passed down through years, through hearts they seep,
Planting fears that run too deep.
A worker bends from dawn to night,
Carrying burdens, her paylight.
Her dreams dissolve, like sand through hands,
While others feast on her labor’s demands.
Across oceans and borders far,
Chains still link where divides are.
Some feast while others starve for bread,
Some live in mansions; some barely fed.
In high rooms where power lies,
Decisions are made that ignore the cries.
The wealth piles up, the chains stay tight,
For some, the day is endless night.
A color, a birthplace, a simple name,
The weight they carry, the same old shame.
Not by merit, but luck and chance,
Their future sways in a cruel dance.
Yet even in shadows, resistance grows,
A quiet fire that no one knows.
Hands that once were bound and still,
Begin to fight, begin to will.
A mother’s strength, a teacher’s care,
Small rebellions everywhere.
For every story of pain and despair,
A light flickers, the flame repairs.
The poets write, the singers sing,
Of worlds where freedom loudly rings.
Where worth is not a price to pay,
And every child can dream away.
But to break these chains, we must all see,
The roots of greed and hypocrisy.
Inequality isn’t nature’s plan—
It’s built by the power of man.
Invisible chains can break apart,
If we rise with hope and heart.
It starts with one, but grows to all,
A world rebuilt, breaking the wall.
Rise, dreamers, those who feel small,
Together, your voices will answer the call.
Break the chains holding us apart,
And build a future with open hearts.
For united, there’s one truth that stays:
We’re stronger together, in brighter ways.
Let’s sever the weight of greed and pain,
And create a world where love remains.
One link at a time, the chain will fall,
Freedom’s song will echo through all.
We’ll rewrite the story, start anew—
A world for me, a world for you.
