invisible

a poem

I teach you about mental health

I tell you stories you’ve never heard of

from the other side of the rainbow

do you even care?

wrapped in your own life as in a winter coat

is this some kind of summer joke?

oh, how much I would give

to strip

all these layers of you

instead of drowning in this

another version of the story

from someone else’s mouth

laid out in front of your pretty face, boy

how dare you compare

half-truths at second hand

with all the glitter and gold, I can tell

if only you could listen, but you don’t

so, what choice do I have?

sitting here alone

and thinking, “I would never have you in my life”

so, what for

were all my efforts to get closer?

I’m invisible, take care of the motley rest
