Into the Shadow

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 2 months ago 1 min read

Verse 1

I lit candles, prayed for signs

Asked the stars to realign

But the answers stayed out of reach

Till I dug beneath what I preach

Pre-Chorus

It’s not in the light we always grow

Sometimes it’s the dark that helps us know

Chorus

The magic you’re looking for

Is in the work you’re running from

In the mirror you avoid

In the silence you become

Don’t fear the ache, don’t dodge the flame

Your healing wears your truest name

The magic you’re looking for

Is in the shadow you outrun

Verse 2

I saw ghosts in my own skin

Truths I buried deep within

But grace met me in the mess

Not in the parts I tried to dress

Bridge

So I sat with shame, I let it speak

Found my strength in being weak

The shadow held a sacred key

To the parts I’d never let me see

Final Chorus

The magic you’re looking for

Is in the work you’re scared to face

In the wounds that still feel sore

In the quiet, holy space

Don’t avoid what makes you whole

Even broken things have soul

The magic you’re looking for

Is in the shadow — that’s your grace
