Intermittent Explosive Disorder
I Just Get Mad Sometimes
*A Poetic Review*
**
strapped and patched and hanging on
normal and ordinary gone
hiding behind social facades
when irritated goes beyond
a flash of red with hints of black
emotions jump, no turning back
testing my skill at calming down
until my patience comes around
narrowing vision and high-pitched sounds
envision bodies hit the ground
practicing techniques and breathing patterns
my best behaviors, broken and tattered
therapists are delving in
disarming my hearts firing pin
cookies and cheese are not for me
when my strongest tendencies disagree
take out the trash, don't need your help
I've no control or thought of self
just a kamikaze canine with an insatiable taste for blood
pulling out the stops, I'm uncontrollably unplugged
**I don't need a man, no, I just need a manicure**

Wonderful. I especially love the ending.
Sometimes rage is all we have in the face of injustice. Never play nice with people who play you! Loved the poem, Kelli, especially the delicious last line!
It’s very important to know thyself and limitation. Nicely done very relatable 💞
Good one, but you better watch out sometimes.
Clever title and great use of rhyme! Loved the final line!
