Instructions for Disappearing

Agent V,

I received your transmission.

You’re compromised; they can pinpoint your exact position.

There’s only one way to deflect

And it’s admittedly a bit of a stretch.

But, I really don’t see any other way.

So, take a deep breath.

…There is no escape.

You’re going to have to betray yourself.

Humans only perceive what you provide,

So give them nothing.

Hide in plain sight.

That’s always the best strategy, right?

No need to dissect the unexpected.

I can poke holes in almost any idea except this.

Omit the need for a master plan

Just black out the windows to control the apparent.

If no one knows you’re missing,

The search party can never catch a scent.

This is the only path with assured success.

Be everything they ever wanted

Battle toxic vibrations with grace

Seek to understand the reprehensible

Advocate for those with no voice while stifling your own

Give the appearance of complete composure

And retreat when needed to manage anything that conflicts with that narrative.

You can disappear for years at a time,

Hell, I’ve been missing my whole life.

So, give them nothing.

Not an inch.

I don’t care how uncomfortable it is

You don’t fucking flinch.
