Insomnia

I have suffered this for 30 years. The Dr will not help me

Insomnia

The clock ticks slow, the night stands still,

My restless mind denies its will.

Thoughts like whispers, soft but loud,

A drifting mist, a restless cloud.

The stars keep watch, the moon looks down,

While I, awake, in dreams may drown.

Pillow tossed, and blankets strewn,

Awaiting sleep that won’t come soon.

Eyes wide open, the silence deep,

A longing grows for peaceful sleep.

Yet in this quiet, I find the spark,

A light of calm within the dark.

The world feels distant, yet so near,

A fleeting blend of hope and fear.

Each shadow dances on the wall,

A silent partner to it all.

I count the hours, the minutes creep,

The night a secret it won’t keep.

Stillness hums, a ghostly tune,

An endless waltz beneath the moon.

But as the dawn begins to break,

My heavy lids no longer ache.

Sleep arrives on morning’s sigh,

Just as sunlight fills the sky.

What a great image and description of this issue known as insomnia. Very, very rarely have I had this issue. Hope you figured what helps you to get a good night's sleep.

Been there way too often. Lol. Especially when working on a novel when plot lines and ideas just won’t stop gamboling across my mental fields. This sounds way too … normal to Mel 😂😂 Fantastic work Marie.
