The Hummingbird
A tiny flash of emerald bright,
Wings a blur in morning light.
It hovers near the flower’s bloom,
A fleeting joy, dispelling gloom.
Its fragile frame defies the sky,
A marvel quick, too fast for eyes.
Yet in its dance, so small, so free,
It carries whispers of mystery.
Through gardens, it darts with grace,
A gentle spirit, hard to trace.
A sip of nectar, sweet and pure,
Its fleeting stay a gift, for sure.
It speaks no words, yet tells a tale,
Of life’s great beauty, small and frail.
Its song is silence, yet we hear,
A melody of hope sincere.
hummingbird, so beautifully fair,
A fleeting dream beyond compare.
Stay but a moment, linger near,
And fill my heart with quiet cheer.
For in your wings, I see the truth,
The fleeting wonder of our youth.
A symbol bright of life’s delight,
You paint the world in colours light.

Tranquil and pleasant to read!
Hummingbirds are great fun to watch when feeding or just hovering around. Great work on this little bird of flight.
I love Hummingbirds too. You did a beautiful poem about this little special bird.
Absolutely lovely. My parents place in Georgia where my brother now lives has humming birds. There are feeders on the porch rafter and I would sit and watch the humming birds for long periods. Lovely work. 🥰
