Insomnia is ruining my whole life
My true story in a poem

Insomnia is ruining my whole life
The night stretches endlessly, a silent torment,
Eyes wide, staring into the abyss of darkness.
The body, weary and aching, pleads for rest,
Yet the mind races, relentless, unyielding.
Thoughts cascade in an unending torrent,
Each one a barrier to the elusive slumber.
The bed becomes a battleground,
Sheets twisted, pillows discarded in frustration.
As dawn approaches, a hollow victory is won,
The night conquered, but at what cost?
The day looms with its demands,
And the body, deprived of its essential reprieve,
Moves through the hours in a haze of fatigue.
Muscles protest with every movement,
Head throbs with a dull, persistent ache.
Concentration falters, patience wears thin,
The simplest tasks become insurmountable.
Evening comes, and with it, a cruel irony,
The exhaustion that plagues the day
Transforms into a restless energy.
The cycle begins anew,
A relentless loop of sleepless nights
And wearisome days.
Insomnia, a relentless adversary,
Steals the vitality of life,
Leaving in its wake a shadow
Of the person who once was a happy girl.

So upsetting, I am really sorry to hear you are struggling with insomnia, it seems so tough. Lack of sleep affects so many areas of life, and it’s exhausting both mentally and physically. Have you tried talking to a doctor to seek help improve your sleep? There might be solutions that can help you find relief. By the way you captured your story of pain very strikingly and beautifully. Thanks for sharing
I feel for you, Marie. I hope that somehow you can work your way out of this horrible insomnia. I do not suffer from insomnia, but I am sleep deprived because of taking care of my mom. It’s very tough because she wakes up often throughout the night and my sleep is interrupted three, four, sometimes five times through the night. Some nights she doesn’t fall asleep until three or four in the morning. While she can sleep through the day, unfortunately I have to be up to deal with the daily goings on of running a household and dealing with insurance companies and Doctors and so forth. So physically, I know what it feels like to be an insomniac. It is not pleasant. I wish you well, my friend. Your poem was very well written. The meter of rhythm is right on track. It flows very well. Excellent work!
Insomnia will take a lot out of you. Mine got worse when I developed Chronic Heart Failure.
