I had potential

when I was a younger man

but I’ve done nothing

Authors note:

At first I didn’t want to post this, because I worried it could seem like encouraging or glorifying violence.

But it’s honest poetry, based on the way I feel.

Personally:

I don’t think I’d ever be the guy to pull the trigger in the class war but it doesn’t feel like there’s any peaceful way to fix the problems of broad economic injustice.

And that’s frustrating. I wish there was a clear path to effective non violent resistance, but the problems are too layered and complex to even begin to address.

Hell it doesn’t feel like there’s any peaceful way to even touch those problems.

Even if we could address them the problems themselves are protected by a system that is oozing with corruption, a system which values dollars more than people, and a system which is too fixed to be swayed or influenced by a powerless nobody like me.

As for the news:

I didnt know a single thing about that ceo before he got killed. He wasn’t on my radar, didn’t know he even existed. But everything I read about the company he lead after the news, it all seemed pretty damning.

And my honest gut reaction was a big shrug. So a crooked rich guy profiting off a really awful system is dead and gone. I’m not losing sleep over that, it really doesn’t even feel like a loss. It almost feels like addition by subtraction.

Usually the news is so full of violence, it’s honestly scary. But this particular act of violence didn’t scare me at all when I read about it.

Not to say I’d specifically condone it, but it’s clear it wasn’t random or senseless violence.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say it was comforting, but compared to the insanity of random shootings and terrorism environmental harm and insured families going bankrupt when over their medical bills, this seemed almost like a relief.
