In time the paradigm shifts...
a poem by @philosopherbonnie
When safety isn't based on luck,
When "because I said so" has no weight,
When we stop pretending harmful ways are best practices,
When we collectively take responsibility,
And clean up messes -
And when we learn to communicate,
There is thriving.
The world belongs to them,
The children -
And their children's children.
We that came before
Trashed the place -
And allowed it to be trashed,
Heads in the sand.
Species dying out,
Radiation leaking,
Wars over what, exactly?
Manipulating markets,
Powering over -
Leaving trauma and chaos in the wake.
Unintended messes,
Who suffers the consequences?
Drops of safety,
Eroded.
The children will learn to co-op, subvert, and innovate despite it all.
Resilient, they must be.
And, then -
In the wake,
A new renaissance emerges.
