In this world so vast and wide,

The darkness seems to win the fight.

By Traci Lynn SchalkPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

In this world so vast and wide,

Sometimes all I want to do is hide.

For every joy that comes my way,

There seems to be a price to pay.

In moments of laughter, I hear the echoes of pain,

And the sunshine is often followed by rain.

All the dreams that I once held so dear,

Now feel distant and so unclear.

The weight of life feels like a heavy stone,

Crushing me down until I feel alone.

And though I try with all my might,

The darkness seems to win the fight.

So I sit here in this somber place,

Tears streaming down my weary face.

Wondering if there's a way to break free,

From this sadness that's consuming me.

But until that day, I'll soldier on,

Hoping that someday the light will dawn.

And though my heart may ache and cry,

I'll keep walking until the storm passes by.
