In the Name of Love
It’s true that you cannot love without deeply loving yourself.

It’s true that you cannot love without deeply loving yourself.
I sought love all the time,
I sought it everywhere but where it actually was.
I only found it when I came home.
Not just within myself,
But within the arms of those who had been there all along.
Because before I came home,
my mind rejected the notion of love.
It was repulsed by it at a fundamental level.
The fear and shame within me masked itself with lies
and bizarre rationalizations...
Rejection felt like love
And Love felt like rejection.
See, I broke a heart because I failed to accept my own.
And people ask: “where’s the boy?”
The boy is off doing a thing,
I’ll find him when I can see him
And I’ll see him when I can see me.
