'The Rhythm Is Gonna Get You'

'The Rhythm Is Gonna Get You'

'Tonight!"

On a simple evening was when I was caught by surprise,

feeling something strange about that night.

Inescapable was I from your prying eyes

and always they were hidden from my sight.

As I continued on, circulating around,

eyeing all those revelers with hands in the air,

I felt them wash over me, not knowing where they'd be found,

not knowing that they were hidden behind that long flaxen hair.

They held onto me as I feigned interest in the crowd,

following every movement I made as I watched them like prey.

Even amid music so loud,

I sensed someone in there had come for me that day.

Your gaze wrapped around me no matter where I went,

and while I knew not where, I knew you were there.

I knew not yet what it all meant

nor that later I would share that hidden gaze in the warm night air.

Strange, it was what brought us together

and you that stopped hiding your feelings in fright.

I'd needed some cooler air in that ungodly hot weather, and when our

eyes met together I knew I found my first love in the heat of that night.

A true first love story...
