In the Game Of Digital Glam

Unveiling the Fragile Layers of Social Media Stardom

She is a nymph on the silk screen, you can’t ignore,

A stylish performer for her viral fans,

Wagging their tongues and beg for more,

A style ripped from the pages of a magazine from Cannes.

**

Pastel pink, with a slender body so tight,

Curves just in the right places,

Gives her the hits of hearts and likes for her site,

An elixir she can’t get enough of, she fully embraces.

**

From sexy heels that elongate her legs,

That feel almost dead from sculpting endeavors.

‘Tis no matter, it’s the look, not the usage, that begs,

The perfect image and reality are deeply severed.

**

A decree from society dictates what beauty should be,

Unblemished skin and posing just right,

Adorned with elegant glitter accessories, is the key,

The language of grandeur and sophistication, a wanted sight.

**

For attention she carved since birth

from a tender age of social media conception.

To taint young minds to want more, left a mournful curse.

Spectators flock to blue screens for a misguided perception.

**

The deadly veil of mimicking a look,

Contrasting a soul so pure.

Mirroring a mirage portrayed, teased from a deceptive hook.

A rhapsody of social media addiction, a deadly lure.

**

Alas, no imitation of friendships, knows what she desires.

The sweetest of Earth's finest dances in her head.

A fashionable model, a full-time liar.

A spider web she has woven, one pull will destruct the fragile thread.

**

Whispering wings,

Soft roses all in bloom,

Are what really makes her heart sing,

Botanical delights so pure, her true perfume.

**

The simplicity of things,

In life in true form.

Unlike the veiled reality that humans cling,

A besiege on electronic devices, the world's stage to stay conform.

**

Nature, who would have thought?

The quintessence of all ethereal purity,

That ages without distraught,

Embraces all stages of impurity with maturity.

**

Woefully, the performer is consumed by

Social media fame.

Like a moth drawn to light in the night sky.

For all the glitter and glam keep her in the game.

**

Her ambivalence will stay,

As hidden as her insecurities.

Her walk in this world is to be on display

Until she can no longer conceal the layers of maturities.

**

So here she is a mannequin of sexual grace,

Weaving inspiration to all her hollow alliances.

Sequestering her truest self, yet not allowing full erase.

For being true and simple in this world, going against world’s defiances.

Great poem- I feel it captures the weirdness of the age well... I especially like the stanza with nature: "That ages without distraught/ Embraces all stages of impurity with maturity."
