In Stillness Stirring

a poem

By Aaron MorrisonPublished 7 months ago 1 min read
art by me

The hand circles above nothing

Because there is nothing

Save the adder-pit

That shapeless tumultuous void

And yet the fluttering of eyelids

Twitch hypnic

And the crack before the wail in eager throats

Initiate their overture

Hear me Star-Flock Shepherd

Hear me as I listen

For I have sat in silent devotion

Gazing upon the vellum

Awaiting the white stillness before daybreak
