In Service Of A Monster
A poem warning about being friends with someone toxic.
By Benjamin Alexander HousePublished 5 years ago • 1 min read

In the service or mere presence of a monster, the monster turns on you.
What loyalty you had for it; it bears none toward you.
You may break while you bend over backwards, for it promised you a lot.
But always the monster takes from you, more than you thought.
Play with fire you get burned, oh that is so true.
Hold hands with evil you get spurned, with none to blame but you.
Watch those you call your friends, take care who’s let in.
They foreshadow certain ends, good or bad things to begin.
