In Other Words

a poem

By Kay HusnickPublished about a year ago 1 min read

I feel no sympathy for you or your many plights,

The way you always seem to get screwed over

i.e., experience consequences for your actions or lack thereof.

I feel no pity for your struggle, no responsibility to assist

The way I always seemed to bend over backward

i.e., sacrifice my well-being in hopes I could help you find yours (you never did).

I feel no empathy at your attempts to make your problems mutual,

The way you pretend you care about how it impacts me

i.e., your manipulation tactics don’t work here anymore.

I feel nothing but indifference,

i.e., Alexa, play Good Luck, Babe! By Chappell Roan.

Love the clever way you’ve turned the tables with this! The switch from empathy to indifference is so real, especially with that perfect ending line. Sometimes, it's just about cutting the emotional ties, right?✨
