In My Pocket: Their Smile

An Indefinable Sonnet

By Scott A. VancilPublished 4 years ago Updated 6 months ago 1 min read

Forsaken in the realm of those who quit,

Quite antadventurous in my desire,

At least in seeking worlds beyond the mire

Into a cosmic wonderlust of wit–

Forsooth, I cannot change, and here I tire.

I spent my love upon the early years,

And now I cannot change the way of it.

My heart is in a cage above a fire,

And nothing's left for me but cosmic shit.

But there they come, like from a world away,

Upon a chariot, they raise the Sun.

Yes, there they come; I see them through my tears.

Their smile doth penetrate me, set on stun.

I will attempt that smile upon each day.
