In Color

a poem by Chad Mathews

By Chad MathewsPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I speak in dream.

Undulating and unfolding into ceaseless being.

I am flaxen,

warm against soft skin.

I am violet,

blushing beneath smooth, cool sheets.

I am umber,

rooted in this earthen vessel.

I am emerald,

sparkling with vibration, and essence abound.

I am brick red and blue,

strung together with sepia and silver,

corseted in ebony, and lashed with ivory strands of a common thread.

I am opalescent and shimmering in the last light of day,

focused and faithful in becoming the everlasting

outline of a life lived in service to the truth of who I aim to be.

I speak in dream.

And I dream - In Color.
