In another place and time,
Would you feel the same
thoughts that pass through
my idle mind from time to time
*
If one day or one moment
Had been different
Would we have even met
We'll never know, but I lament
*
I am so glad that we did
But can't help but wonder
If things might have been better
If meeting me, you never did

Oh no, no one's life would be better if they didn't meet you! Awesome poem!
This is so relatable and powerful Paul! It's thought invoking and such an insightful piece!
I frequently find myself thinking about all those who got away & just how lucky they are.
Yes.
😢👏 Nice work.. Short and sweet with a bitter aftertaste!
I agree with Emma, this is heartbreaking. Probably because it’s inevitable to feel that way occasionally.
This breaks my heart, Paul!! Though I have to confess, I’ve recently been having similar thoughts. The big “What If?” when it comes to people I’ve met and relationships I’ve sacrificed for others. It’s not a game that’s easy on the brain.
