In A Season That Felt Crowded With Losses

I’m The One That Won

By Stephanie JarrellPublished about a year ago 1 min read

There was a lot of good

But somewhere along the way, the good could no longer outweigh the bad.

There was nothing good about realizing my love couldn’t fix your anger.

The cold shoulder and the silent treatments.

The waiting. Only to reach an ending that forced me to mourn a life that will never be.

There was nothing good about the way that every conversation turned into an argument.

The lying. The walls I had to build in attempt to preserve any remaining pieces of myself that you hadn’t yet shredded.

Or the way you would blame me for your sabotage.

During a season that felt crowded with losses.

I’m the one that won.

There was a lot of bad.

But somewhere along the way, the bad could no longer outweigh the good.

You got to walk away, but you’re still forced to be with yourself.

I got to leave.
