Impressions

An Acrostic Poem

Still life everywhere requires an appreciative artist;

In the quiet in-between moments, in cafés and aboard trains,

Life makes painters of us all.

Expressionism, Realism and Abstraction all thrive in the mind's eye, yet

None of these make the first, flawed, and most honest style sketched soundlessly within.

Comfort and melancholy complement each other in this truth:

Each of us will ever be but an Impression to a thousand once-glimpsed strangers.

    Yes, life seems to make painters of us all doesn't it, whether it is on paper or in our minds. Beautiful acrostic poem. Nicely Done!!!

    I love the line "sketched soundlessly within." What a thought-provoking, honest piece. Beautifully done!

    Each line in this is TRULY STUNNING! The last line is beautiful and brilliant but each one that precedes it holds its own treasure and each one progressed to the next so seamlessly. I just tried to go back and pull out a favorite but I really can’t! I’ve been reading all morning telling myself I get to conclude this reading session with your recent pieces and this was well worth the wait! Excited I’ll reach the next ones soon!!

    I.loved this so much. Whimsical, deep, thoughtful. And I agree with Joe. That last line was like a light coming on such was its clearness. That sounds a bit poncy but I don't mean it to be.

    Ah so you do draw! Your image for the Inverse challenge also looked hand-drawn- a great skill! Your final line is brilliant Gabriel. “ Each of us will ever be but an Impression to a thousand once-glimpsed strangers.”

    Real life, blank canvases waiting to be painted and created, living in a world so vast....I see you have already begun to paint yours with shades of lovely.
