Impactful Windows
My experience visiting Sainte Chapelle
By Ellie HoovsPublished 12 months ago • 1 min read

First
the room is tenebrous
in twilight corners
that seem etched
with charcoal.
I ponder what these
gray stone walls
have seen.
Then breaks
the quiescently calm silver
by prismatic luminescence
I turn and feel nothing
but exaltation
my face washed with
a riot of
unified color
and I forget
about the empty
black space
where I’d first entered
and feel,
for a moment,
that I
belong.

This captures such a cool contrast—how darkness can feel heavy until light floods in and changes everything. The way you describe color feels so alive, like it’s filling more than just the room. Love the hopeful ending too!
Great windows! 😁😄👌
