Imitation is the best form of flattery
But is sure can become annoying when someone steps on your literary toes.
I like to have fun with my writing. Creeping, encroaching, crawling, twisting words and phrases to 'turn the screw', so to speak, on the everyday and mundane.
I admit that I do get inspiration from within other people's ideas and thoughts, as others may also get from mine.
But when it gets completely ridiculous, is when I draw the line.
An example if you will indulge me:
I wrote my lovely little Haiku "When pigs fly".
Now changed to "See pink pigs fly".
For lo and behold, I suddenly see someone making every other animal fly too.
And not just one, suddenly a whole barrage of lizards, bats , lions, apes, cats, dogs, rats and what not, started flying too.
With a title just like my own.
Becoming completely annoyed, I immediately unsubscribed from the person. Now, I am not trying to be mean...I am just asking that you not so blatantly take my idea, without at least finding your own title.
I felt encroached upon, having now being forced to change my own cover title, through no fault of my own.
Sorry, to say. I did not feel at all flattered.
There is beautiful imitation...then there is encroachment.
For life imitates art, and art imitates life...but only in the best of ways.

I am sorry that someone stole your idea. The worst ones are those who do it word for word. Vocal has been vigilant with people who copies others work. I would report people who does that.
Come onnnn, drop names! I wanna know who they are hehehhehee
Very true, not everyone understands the game or the rules. But still, use your brain people, There are ideas everywhere. I agree with your view,
I agree. And don't forget: imbibation is the best form of fattery!
i agree.. we should let our unique voice shine, and imitation isn't necessarily the best form of flattery!
