You walk as if you had a purpose, and speak as if you had a story to tell.

You trust enough to slow down; you eat for taste and not aesthetics;

you scribble shitty ditties as if no one will judge

and sing, oblivious to your dodgy notes.

You take that call, eat the cake, and write because

you like the feel of making letter shapes.

You believe you can, because self-belief is the seed of imagination;

imagination is the bud of blooming creativity

that allows you to walk with purpose

leaving stories in your footprints.

About the Creator

Teresa Renton

Inhaling life, exhaling stories, poetry, prose, flash or fusions. An imperfect perfectionist who writes and recycles words. I write because I love how it feels to make ink patterns & form words, like pictures, on a page.

    Oooh, I remember this. I know it's only a month ago, but my mind is a sieve sometimes. Thank you for submitting this. Will add it to the list. :)

  • Ooh I love this, self belief is the seed of imagination. That makes sense, if you don’t believe in yourself you’ll never see what you can make, even if some of the things you make in the beginning of a journey are questionable, they can always get better. This was fantastic and inspiring actually!

  • This is so deep and true. Loved your poem!

    Sublime. And also. welcome back! But, Sublime, Ms Renton. Just every single line. Such flow, such depth and I love the theme and those last four lines tie it all together wonderfully!
