Between Radiance and Shadow

The sun’s embrace is broken by the moon,

a fleeting crown of fire frames the sky.

The world is dimmed, yet promises its boon:

that even dark reveals what will not die.

Your memory shines most brightly in eclipse,

when light and shadow press as one to speak.

It trembles on the edge of time’s slow lips,

a fleeting strength concealed within the weak.

Yet I have learned to love the passing shade,

to welcome silence as a kindred flame.

The dark reveals the paths the light has made,

and loss bestows the echo of your name.

So heart eclipsed, I do not turn away:

both dark and light are woven into day.

About the Creator

Rebecca A Hyde Gonzales

I love to write. I have a deep love for words and language; a budding philologist (a late bloomer according to my father). I have been fascinated with the construction of sentences and how meaning is derived from the order of words.
