If tomorrow starts without me, and I’m not there to see, if the sun rises and your eyes are filled with tears for me, I hope you won’t cry the way you did today, remembering all the things we didn’t get to say. I know how much you love me—as much as I love you. I know you’ll miss me every time you think of me.

But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand: an angel came and called my name, gently taking me by the hand. My place was ready, high above, and I had to leave behind those I dearly love. As I turned to walk away, a tear fell from my eye. I had always thought that I wasn’t ready to die—I had so much to live for, so much left to do. It felt impossible that I was leaving you.

I thought of all our yesterdays, the good times and the bad. I remembered all the love we shared and the fun we had. If I could go back, even just for a while, I’d say goodbye, kiss you once more, and see your smile. But then I realized that this could never be; that emptiness and memories would take the place of me.

When I thought of all the things I might miss tomorrow, my heart was filled with sorrow. But when I walked through Heaven’s gates, I felt so much at home. God looked at me and smiled from his great golden throne. He said, “This is eternity, and all I’ve promised you. Your life on Earth is over, but here, life starts anew. I promised no tomorrow, but today will last. Since every day is the same, there’s no longing for the past.

You were so faithful, trusting, and true, though at times you did things you knew you shouldn’t do. But you’ve been forgiven, and now you’re finally free. So take my hand and share your eternity with me.”

So, when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart. For every time you think of me, I’m right here in your heart.
