If I Had a Penny
If I had a penny for every time
your name pops into my mind,
I’d drown in wealth beyond the stars,
a fortune from true love and scars.
A millionaire? No, that’s too small
I’d own the heavens, claim them all.
One billion times, and still you’d stay,
a whisper that won’t fade away.
Coins could never tell the weight in gold
of thoughts that twist, that burn, with ache.
No gold could match how I love you So true
A priceless love, I hold of just us two.
I don’t need silver, I don’t need gold,
no glittering coins, no riches untold.
What’s wealth to me if you’re not near,
is your voice in my head, you are so dear.
Let the world keep its fortune,
let it keep its sparkle an shine,
I want only your hand in mine.
Not for a moment, not for a day
but till my breath of us fades far away.
And even then, in death’s embrace,
my soul will wander time and space,
still calling, reaching, craving you
a love too fierce to bid adieu.

Nice work Marie. The simplicity of a penny a small often overlooked object becomes a profound symbol of wishes. :)
