If I Grow Up...(4)

I want to be a Secret Weapon

If I grow up I want to be a secret weapon

Carefully concealed as a faithful companion.

I want to watch you face the battle with a secret smile

Aware that at least a bit of your confidence and bravado

Come from knowing I am there and I have your back and

None of those opposing you

Have the slighting inkling of what we are capable of or

How hard I will fight for you.

I want to be your game changer

Your trump card

Your ace in the hole.

I want to be the surprise upset

The victory that no one else saw coming but you never doubted for a second.

I want to be there for your command

Ready at your signal

Following your lead.

I want to be patient and calm and unhurried.

I want to be relaxed and alert

Ready to charge or remain concealed as you bid

Because I have complete confidence in you and

Know that you know what you are doing and

You've got this, and

You've got me.

I want to know that I will not fail you

In the thickest of the fight

Or the peace that comes after.

I want to be yours to trust in play or in waiting.

I want to be that crucial detail

That you know better than

Anyone else ever can or will.

If I grow up I want to be your secret weapon.
