Identical Is Not Always The Same
Twins are identical aren't they?
When having a Twin
There’s no greater sin
Than playing alone
All day.
When you’ve got a playmate
Everyday is a playdate.
Little Miss Milly
And Little Miss Tilly
Were close as close could be
They had secret words
They twittered like birds
Telling secrets only they could hear
Exactly the same in every way
They grew more identical every day
With rosy cheeks and heads full of curls
They were the most adorable girls
With big blue eyes and smiles so wide
They charmed everyone they met.
As they grew so pretty and so sweet
Many friends they would meet
But their best friend was always each other
They promised there would never be another.
But childish promises can never last
And some promises will be confined to the past
See Little Miss Milly
And Little Miss Tilly
Weren’t always so alike
Where Milly liked to play with a friend
Tilly would wish their game would end
When Milly wanted to go out to play
Inside their house Tilly would stay
Milly liked to read a princess book
Tilly wouldn’t even give it a look
The girls were not as identical as everyone thought
In fact these children often fought
Milly wanted to be wild and free
Tilly wanted Mills at her knee
Milly wanted space and room to grow
Tilly always said No, No, No!
The twins grew to resent each other
Their fighting took its toll on their poor mother
At last she decided to make a change
Their bedroom she started to rearrange
But alas it would not do
Their resentment grew and grew
Imagine seeing your face looking back
And all you wanted was to give it a smack.
Their mother decided ‘I Know! Separate rooms!’
And one night she separated the two.
Milly rejoiced so happy, so glad
But Little Miss Tilly grew angry and mad.
Each night she would sneak into Milly’s room
And beg to sleep in the same bed
But Milly would shout ‘Off with her head!
This is my room, now get out
Don’t make me angry don’t make me shout!’
So Tilly would slink back to her bed
Tears escaping from her sore head.
The two girls seem calmer away from each other
To the great relief of their poor mother.
Milly was the star student in class
Tilly seemed more fragile more made of glass
Milly was the lead on all the sports teams
Tilly wasn’t athletic as it would seem.
But identical the girls did stay
Until one awful day
Milly awoke screaming for her mum
‘Mummy there’s a pain in my tum’
Mother rushed into Milly’s room
Tilly watched from her doorway like an anxious groom
Milly Cried ‘Im dying, there blood!’
Mother hushed her from where she stood
‘My dear girl you are perfectly fine,
It just means it is your time
All women have this moment when you are no longer a child
You are growing up’ she sweetly smiled
Milly felt it in her bones just then
She was growing and becoming a lady
Milly was no longer a baby
In her gut Tilly felt acid so hot
Milly was leaving her behind to rot
From that day forth Milly was new
Tilly watched as she grew and grew
Milly grew tall
Tilly still small
Boys took notice of Mills
Nobody ever looked at Tills
Milly grew more beautiful day by day
But Tilly’s face would the same just stay
Every night she prayed before sleep
‘Please let me grow’ she would weep and weep
But the doctor called Tilly a late bloomer
He wondered if maybe she had a tumor?
Milly made new friends boys and girls alike
Tilly’s only friend was Milly’s old bike.
Into adulthood the twins did grow
Tilly’s womanhood coming on so slow
Milly was beautiful, young and admired
Tilly wished she could be so desired
But more than this, what really broke Tilly’s heart
Was the loss of her twin, they grew so apart
Tilly wondered why the Milly left her behind
Milly was never ever unkind
But Milly grew into a woman
And Tilly was stuck like a little girl
But they started off the same from day one
Tilly wondered when Milly had gone
Then the thought hit her like a hammer
They grew apart from the day they were separated
When they were together they were always celebrated
But since they had moved into a separate room
That was when Milly started to bloom
And Tilly withered like a vine and the branch
But Tilly knew she had a chance!
If she could reunited the two
Tilly would grow! She knew it was true!
So Tilly ran to tell Milly
But Milly said ‘Don’t be so silly! Im more mature and the pretty twin
In these types of siblingry one must win
And dear little Tilly so small blue
Im sorry but it would never be you
Now excuse me little one Im have to go
Im meeting my best friend at the show’
Tilly felt the punch in her heart
As if she had been stabbed with a dart
Milly had broken their solemn vow
Tilly knew what she had to do now.
Waiting till darkness when Milly came home
Tilly made sure her twin was alone
Tilly made Milly a cup of tea
Laced with Belladonna drops-just three
Milly fell asleep so deep and so sound
Tilly felt this moment was profound
Stealing into her room so dark
Using a pen Tilly made her mark
Little dots up he arms and legs
Using her thread and needle so shiny
Tilly sewed, the holes were so tiny
All night she stitched and pulled
Until at last her plan was complete
The twins were joined from shoulder to feet
Milly awoke and felt so strange
She felt as if there had been a huge change
She turned and saw Tilly so near
The pain in her body brought a tear
Tilly whispered ‘You broke your promise
You said there would never be another
I fixed it so we will grow together’
Milly Screamed
And Screamed
And screamed some more
Tilly just laughed
