Ice Princess
Bar-less Prison
the ice around her heart was an illusion
she thought it kept her safe and far from harm
quickly she learned the truth from her confusion
there’s no escaping lies, laced with charm
*
so she added flames erupting from her fingers
no one would dare intend to cause her pain
alas, she found the ache inside just lingered
she vowed never to use her heart again
*
but, a heart of ice and fingers of fire became her prison
and she, the only prisoner it held
seems the only thing that fear kept hidden
was the true expression of how she really felt

Poignant poem Kelli. 🥰
Beautifully worded, as always. This has such depth and sadness to it. Wonderful job!
What we won't do to keep ourselves from getting hurt, & what do we lose in the process. Poetically tragic.
Simply sad and beautiful!
