I would say I love you

But I bury my teeth in my fist

Knowing things wither that once grew

~

I want to do as the bravest do,

But the past have warned of a twist

I would say I love you

~

How could you casually erase what you once knew

I’ve loved those who disappeared in the mist,

Knowing things wither that once grew

~

There’s a day I don’t beg to rue

I’m sure you get the gist

I would say I love you

~

What makes of the stick home when the bird flew

And left reddened cheeks from lips that kissed

Knowing things wither that once grew

~

So though you smile and though you coo

Could you perhaps riddle me this, I insist

I would say I love you

Knowing things wither that once grew

Villanelle
