I pegged my washing on the line,

On a warm summer's day,

I looked up to the heavens above,

And I prayed it wouldn't rain,

My Gran confirmed it from

heaven above,

"My darling, it won't rain,"

But lo, behold!

I wasn't impressed when she sent

her tears my way.

I told my Gran,

"Please don't cry. Know that we're

all okay,"

She laughed and said,

"I know my darling, but I'm angry that

it rained today,"

I continued pegging my washing on

the washing line,

The sky above,

It lit up with bright sunshine!

I smiled and I thanked my gran,

Who wiped a tear from her eyes;

She told me she loved me,

then she promised me,

"It won't rain again today;"

Every time I step into my garden,

Gran is on my mind,

And no matter whether rain or shine,

I know she's by my side,

So, from today,

I hold my head high,

And shout out loud,

"I love you!"

And my gran,

She always responds with,

"I won't make it rain today."

Carol, I can smell those clothes on the line like in the old days....so fresh and kissed by the sun and by Gran's love!
