For the better you

I hold my breath

You're cold and hollow

Just like yesterday's mistakes

Repeating in my mind.

***

I try and find the fire

That was once there

Burnung below the surface

It's still there I think

In fleeting moments.

Like shooting stars across the sky,

We always end up that best version of ourselves

If only for a moment.

***

In those moments I make a wish

A wish for things to stay as they are

Wishing that at any moment

I didn't lose you again

***

But just like seasons passing

I see you lose your spirit

And it's there I wait

To embrace it the next time it comes around.
