I Was Fire And You Were Snow
This Week's Snowstorm Reminded Me of You
The year we first met
It was decades ago
I was fire and you were snow
**
I joked around and fooled around
Winning a friend or two from time to time
You were serious and never looked around
Enjoying solitude all the time
**
My heart set out like fire
To conquer the world and never feel tired
Yours settled like sheets of snow
To blanket the messy world like grace bestowed
**
I hated you a lot
Also admired you a little
**
I wished my instinct was right all along
That you would one day regret your wrong
My dynamic way of life was way more superior
Than your icy cold inner world with so much inertia
**
This week's snowstorm reminded me of you
When life is on pause
I searched life's answers taking a different view
And how much I missed the beauty engraved in you
**
With a pure and static form you look weak at first
Yet your way proves powerful enough to ground the whole world
To present a shiny and sparkling look
That reflects sunlight and hope
**
I want to tell you but you are not here
I once hated you because I was not your tier
