I wish beauty had a scent.
*
The beauty in the tiny little things that I once held dear:
a fallen rose on the ground,
a lost toy under the couch,
the totaled car that I first drove.
*
Their scent would have filled my every breath,
awakened my inner self,
and motivated my next search for life’s purpose and meaning.
*
But as their physical bodies got lost in time,
their inner beauty also seemed hard to uncover.
No, they are not spiritual beings, I know.
But please at least leave behind a scent, could they?

Questions asked like a true poetic physicist and mathematician! I'm sure that all those things and more leave a scent, and this would definitely require an expansion of the recognised or known categories of aromas. I think it'd be great for the person who names them to get to propose the new "scent name." There's an awful one waiting for the maniacal, selfish drivers on the road. Just saying...😁 But my closest and dearest compadre is a whiff of laughter, peace, joy, and hugs. I think I'd need to work out a formula...
