I want to believe that the world is fair,
I really, really do
I want to believe that people care
I want to believe that, too.
But I look around and lose all hope
Because I know that this is not true.
I want to believe we could live in peace
I really, really do,
But that fades into a distant hope
With these senseless wars that politicians pursue
New wars break out, and none seem to cease
So I know that it's not true.
I want to believe that the world is just
I really, really do,
But these days you don’t know who to trust
Everyone has their own selfish point of view
Too few people try to do what’s right
So I don’t believe it's true.
I want to believe there is hope
I really, really do,
But with each day, nature finds it more challenging to cope
We sit back and say, “If only we knew,”
It may already be too late.
I want to believe, but tell me, is it true?
Till next time,
Calvin

I think you're echoing what we're all feeling at the moment, Calvin. Eloquently put.
This is wonderful, it's a way of looking at things positively and from a different perspective! Great one, Sir 😊
Thoughtful poetry! Thankyou.💕💗
It is ironic that most people want peace and to support others, but some are not happy until they are hurting others. Good words
I want to believe that I'm worth enough I really, really do! Loved it! 👏😊
