I Want a Revolution

And I bet you do, too.

I want a revolution

that feels like spring

an absolute rebirth

transformation from death

I crave a revolt

that feels like raindrops

on a 98° summer day

one that satiates

thirsty plants

I want the people to rise

like a red and orange morning sky

reflecting in dew drops

on a swaying blade of grass

singing, not screaming

that this is our land

our lullaby of resistance

this is our home

let us stand and

refuse the terror

being inflicted upon us

by bloodied hands claiming peace

I wish that revolutions

came from kindness

but I've only ever seen success

from the ones with violence

not the ones with dreams
