I used to be yellow but now I am black
color of all colors when present together
all hues combined or all absence observed
from which light radiates or is absorbed
.
and I’m radiantly doing in my undoneness
wheeled and worn, housebound yet dreaming
word nudging schemer for better ways of being
grateful for the green patch now sprouting
bright gold tufts of persistent dandelions
above the white litter of spring snow
.
my vision stuffed with ruddy buds of the maple
and cream storms of bradford pears shouting
hallelujahs along the parkway and on my corner
the aged scraggly apple adorned with pink centered frilleries
sparking glorious promises of red fruit to come
.
while I wish for a wisdom that helps and heals all
permeating air silver spirals of incense
subtle as the fragrance of pouting daffodils
their butter lemon cups yearning to be lifted
like old telephone recievers to reach
listeners, to enter, to have their song heard
.
and sung back to the dark earth
where they emerged from black
nourishment I know mourning and love
in its allness
