I Think of You

A Christmas Poem

When Christmas lights shine on the wall,

I think of you.

When fragrant pine boughs deck the hall,

I think of you.

With carols playing, most of all,

I think of you.

*

Your smile haunts me this time of year,

When everyone else is full of cheer,

And I can almost feel you here.

*

I sit alone, longing for ghosts of Christmas past,

When I didn’t know it wouldn’t last,

And years seemed to fly by much too fast.

*

When Christmas lights twinkle at nightfall,

I think of you.

When holiday gifts amuse and enthrall,

I think of you.

With angels singing, I hear your call,

And I know you're here after all.

*
