The snowflakes swirl, falling on my nose.

My frosty breaths creating steamy puffs.

I walk alone, the chill freezing my toes.

The wind is ever blowing up my cuffs.

*

The road is covered, yet I do not stray

I’ve been this way so many times before.

Fond memories come flooding on the way.

My footsteps crunch beside the frozen shore.

*

I think to warm days, splashing in the stream,

And bringing home some tasty fish to eat.

I long for summer sun, shining agleam.

A shiver stops my thoughts in a heartbeat.

*

I’m trudging onward, soon I will be home

And free from winter’s dreary monochrome.
