I See A Bit of Sunshine

It's been some dark days

I finally let it all out.

All the tears, all the sadness

That I have kept inside.

I told you I'm done

I cannot take anymore pain

I can no longer bottle it all up

You listened. Patiently.

You told me you love me

But I told you the hard truth that I've been hiding...

That I don't feel like I love myself lately.

That I don't feel like I have a reason to live anymore.

You kept quiet.

Then you got angry.

Because you feel so much for me

You know you're better than this,

You said.

I know.

But I'm tired.

I'm tired of being better for everyone else

But not enough for me.

I told you everything.

In the end, you held me.

The hold that I've been wanting for so long.

You reminded me again that there were options

That ending it wasn't the only choice.

That we could work together,

Save ourselves.

Still be kind to everyone

Without hurting ourselves.

I'm not telling you to be selfish,

Because that's not you.

But I'm reminding you to care for yourself,

Because I know you don't do that.

And you're right.

But I need help, still.

I need you to constantly remind me of this.

Please.

Because I tend to forget

And drown in the voices

That my own head creates

When I don't have yours to turn to.

Thank you.

I don't have any idea to write poems without RHYME. I and I strongly believed that all that poems are just useless to me. Today it's the first time I felt so comfortable and good with such poem <3 Thank you for sharing it

"Because I tend to forget and drown in the voices that my own head creates when I don't have yours to turn to." This is such a powerful line and such a beautiful articulation of why this person matters so much, and how they can be there for you. This is a vulnerable poem- thank you for sharing- it resonates deeply.

You must be your own best friend. That's not being selfish; it's how it should be. Advocate for yourself, care for yourself, listen to yourself. I think every person who is thoughtful and introspective has been in this place and it will resonate for many. Beautifully evoked with the reality of true sadness.
