I Care a Little Less Today

Shrugging it all off

I imagine you...

Coming home from work

Our usual conversation point is me asking

"Hey hun, how was your day?"

But today...

I know that when you come home

I won't ask this

Because time and time again...

I have been hurt by your lack of care

And it's teaching me

To also care less.

So today when you come home

And I don't ask

And you wonder why I don't

Especially because you're having

A pretty significant event

In a career that you don't even pursue

(But things just happen, I guess)

I'll look at you...

Smile.

And say the same thing you say...

"You can tell me if you want"

And add a little note at the end...

"Because I don't really care."

Sorry, not sorry.

Very touching article! Don't ask, only give, a saint told his student before dying. In the realm of relations you have to examine deep the cause of the problem, but never stay pathetic for too long.

We can see so much unspooling from here.

  • As a person who cares a lot, this resonated with me so deeply! I'm so sorry this is happening to you 🥺

As an obstinate bachelor, I must say that literary sources of insight into the ordinary everydayness of matrimony seldom move me to reconsider. You clearly have oceans of thought and feeling to share with someone; why isn't someone who ostensibly loves you interested in seizing that opportunity?!?

This is sad and I hope it gets better or you leave. 🥲😟
