I Remember
For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.
Rain fell that year instead of snow,
Flowers, confused, began to grow.
Fourteen is long and growing old,
At least that is what I was told.
*******************************
I saw the robin peck the ground,
Wondering why he was still around.
Did Persephone stay and grace the Earth,
Hoping to bring us all her mirth?
*********************************
The sun shone that year instead of frost,
But it always comes with a hefty cost.
Joy and warmth were gone and lost,
And eternal burning is what it brought.
*************************************
Never-ending summer in winter time,
The Christmas Bells cease to chime.
Is there a babe born to a maid?
Or will this all begin to fade?
Gone away in the sun's blazing fire,
leaving our hearts and souls much dryer.
****************************************************************
A little epitaph to Christmas. I love the son, for it symbolizes Apollo and the returning savior from death every morning. But, the sun also symbolizes a burning masculine energy that calls us to work beneath its blazing heat.
And that is all we do now, isn't it? We work. Even at Christmas, New Years, and every high holy day we may honor.
Because the sun will not go to rest.
