I Remember You

I certainly do.

By Dawn MazzettaPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

I remember you, but not the way you think I do.

Not from decades ago when we first met as kids

Or the time you took care of me when I was so lost;

I could barely move.

I am not referring to those times, but

I remember you, yes, I certainly do.

Not in this form, this body, or this particular place.

I remember your soul from long ago.

It was a different time and a different space.

It may sound outrageous, I know.

But I swear, it is true……

I do remember you, yes, I certainly do.

When I see your soul come through your eyes,

I feel my spirit light up, and I have to smile.

When I feel your soul come through your skin,

I cannot get close enough, I want to dive in.

Sometimes I forget who you are, until I see that part of you

and I remember, again… how good you are and why I love that grin.

So, if you ever wonder why I say certain things about “the part of you,”

the one who loves me so true and is so very beautiful

when her eyes sparkle and her light shines through...

I am speaking of this part of you. You may not remember or feel it, too...

but trust me when I tell you, I do remember you. I certainly do.
