I never was Highfalutin

Nor was I ever a conformist. Where is the fun in that!

Power to the People, the nonconformists.

Who, whom, you may ask, are these People?

They are those voices which rage against the system dynamics.

Not the ones with highfalutin airs and graces, remiss

Thinking the system perfect and must needs be heeded-to

Power to the People, the nonconformists.

Lay in the street, join the protest, raise high the fist

Make a stand, climb high, be vocal, your voice a steeple

They are those voices which rage against the system dynamics.

I never was highfalutin, can't stand airs and graces, so amiss

Give me freedom, the right to roam, my choices agreeable

Power to the People, the nonconformists.

I want to join the voices in golden lights of wanton promises

Misbehaving in dreams of changes to nepotism and freebies

They are those voices which rage against the system dynamics

Beautiful rebellious souls joined in raging against misogynists

Freedom soaring on winds of 'power to the people'.

Power to the People, the nonconformists

They are those voices which rage against the system dynamics!

Power to the people filled with grace, justice & mercy--those who want the best for all. I'm so often frustrated by those who would perpetuate privilege according to race, gender, sexuality, nationality, religion, etc. by claiming they are the ones oppressed & abused & using the tools of protest to crush others who already have lived generations with the boot firmly planted on their necks.
